NOTE: It is only the *list* of files and folders and the structure, that is synced - not the actual files.
If you have a lot of files in your S3 bucket, the caching of the list locally on your website will exponentially speed up the loading of your S3MediaVault Media page.
Whenever you first visit the Media page, S3MediaVault will retrieve the entire directory contents of your S3 bucket, and then create a cache of the files and folders (aka, local copy in the database for faster loading in the future).
From that point onwards, any time you visit the Media page, it is the cached version (from the database) that will be loaded on the page.
Reloading of Cache
Any time you upload files, delete files, create or delete folders directly from the S3MediaVault Media page, the cache will automatically be recreated. So if you have a lot of files, then it will only be slow when the cache is recreated, and will be fast from the next time onwards.
And if you upload files directly from the S3 console at AWS then be sure to click on Sync the list of Files & Folders below, with S3 button, which will then reload all of the files from S3 and create a local cache (aka copy).
